Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety is fear of the future. Depression is being stuck in the pain of the past.

The first step in addressing both is learning to stay in the present. Through CBT exercises, we can evaluate the reality of your thoughts and address the cognitive distortions that may be holding you back. Through mindfulness we can create an environment for calm contemplation to occur instead  of reactivity and self criticsm

 

Emotional Eating

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, I can guide you toward a healthier way to eat, but more importantly, as a Psychotherapist, I can help you to determine what is driving your behaviour.

 

Together we can explore your emotional triggers, observe your eating habits, and discuss how the past may be influencing your diet today. 

Addiction

When addictive behaviour is present, we begin therapy by working to replace the behaviour with healthier options. This can be done through CBT exercises and mindfulness.

 

Once the behaviour has decreased or is under control, the hurt and pain beneath the surface of addictive behaviour can be addressed.

Relationships & Parenting

We all desire secure, healthy relationships that last a lifetime, but very few of us have the skills/knowledge to sustain them.

 

My approach to relationship counselling involves a combination of practical exercises in communication and an exploration of how your past is influencing your ability to connect. 

 

Let’s begin with what has brought you to therapy. Perhaps you are feeling disconnected, lost, lonely, trapped, suffocated in a relationship, or longing for one? You desire happiness, peace, and contentment.

 

Now, let’s look to the past and explore your thought and behavioural patterns, your defences (sarcasm, intellectualizing, learned helplessness), and your emotional triggers. How and why has your blueprint for life been created this way? With awareness of what you can change, acceptance for what you cannot, and action toward achieving your goals, you can experience transformation.
